This Eleuthera Rental Cottage Offers...... a cozy atmosphere. Two bedrooms, one bath, large living area. And this Eleuthera rental cottage is just one minute by foot from one of the most beautiful pink sand beaches on the breezier side of the island.
When you arrive here you'll get a true feeling of privacy. And you will be living in a picturesque area that you'll have all to yourself. Only my wife and I - both from Zurich, Switzerland - live next to our Eleuthera rental cottage. We are in the round house visible in the aerial photos below. So there's always help and assistance available in case you need it. Our nearest neighbors are three American couples with whom we entertain a friendly relationship.
Guests from the US, Canada and Europe consider our area and the beach as the most beautiful one on the island. Your Eleuthera rental is at the far right side of the aerial photos below. The first picture was taken in March 04 after a drought. Normally it does look a bit greener there.
At Banana Beach where this Eleuthera vacation rental cottage is located, you'll have the beach all to yourselves. There is fine, pink sand on a wide beach, ideal for strolling and beach combing. The Atlantic side, where your Eleuthera rental is located, is generally cooler than the other side, called the Caribbean. We're getting the famous Bahamas breeze here. And many would agree with us that the Atlantic side is the more scenic of our two oceans, with most of
Eleuthera's sandy beaches
located here.
Traditional-Style Eleuthera Rental Cottage Named ORCHID is...... conveniently located between the town of Governor's Harbour and the Governor's Harbour airport GHB.See the dragable map below, i.e. hold down left mouse button and move mouse to see GHB airport (red icon) and the cottage (green icon). Governor's Harbour settlement is about the same distance down South. There is no audible aircraft noise at the cottage. Not even a sound from the main road will you hear at this location. What awe-inspiring moments will you enjoy when gazing at the stars in the total silence of night!
Eleuthera rental *Orchid* is ideal for a couple looking for a quiet spot in a pleasant environment or for a family with 1-2 children. Of the cozy and efficient layout in 720 sq.ft., the larger part is taken up by the combined kitchen and living room. An extra shower for salt-rinsing is right outside the house. There is no TV but a large portable radio and CD player. Why not bring your notebook computer to watch DVDs and handle your e-mail in town? The Haynes library in Governor's Harbour has high-speed Internet access and is equipped with modern computers where you can retrieve and send e-mail or surf the Web for 5 US$ per hour. And at night you could go to Sunset Inn outside of Governor's Harbour to check your mail for the same price. There's a phone in the house and all calls on the island are free. For calls to other islands or for international calls, you can buy a phone card from Batelco in Governor's Harbour. Eleuthera rental Orchid is 3 miles north of Governor's Harbour settlement where the liquor and grocery stores are. It's just a 10 minute drive from Orchid. Governor's or *The Harbour* as the locals call it, is the main settlement in Central Eleuthera. It's a quaint Bahamian town with 2 large food stores, 2 gas stations and 2 banks - the Royal Bank of Canada and the First Caribbean Bank. There is also a travel agency in Governor's Harbour. It's name? *Destinations*, phone 1-242-332-2720. They also represent FedEx in case you wanted to send something and be sure it arrives on time.

Once a week we go grocery shopping and would drive you to town and back if you decided not to rent a car during your stay. But you will need a car to go to the restaurants in and around Governor's Harbour. Click here to see them listed with phone numbers. There are two small double bedrooms of equal size, one with a king size bed - shown above - and the other one with two single beds. Each room has air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. Linens are provided as well as beach chairs and a sun shade. All you have to bring are your own beach towels.
The living room is facing north. Right outside of our Eleuthera rental cottage is a covered porch which is particularly pleasant during afternoons when the sun is behind the house. Let's now walk to the beach, bare foot or with your Crocs. (BTW, we consider them the best island shoes >> www.crocs.com ) The beach is only a minute away. Here's the sandy foot path over the little dune which is protecting us from the pounding noise when the sea occasionally is rough.

As you access the Atlantic, go left or right and walk for about 20 minutes in either direction. It's all powdery pink-sand. Beautiful! And excellent for swimming, fishing and snorkeling, too. Air Travel from the US & Canada to Governor's HarbourMost travelers must make a connection in South Florida. I suggest you stay in transit in Fort Lauderdale (FLL), South Florida - rather than in Miami - and continue on to arrive in Governor's Harbour (GHB) on Eleuthera via Continental or Twin Air, because going through Nassau can be a hassle.Once you get to GHB, tell any taxi driver to bring you to Orchid Rental at the end of Banana Beach road. I do not recommend that you fly into North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) because it is about an hour north of Orchid rental cottage. The taxi ride is $ 80-90 one way.
